A political group in Cross River State has promised to mobilise and deliver “bloc votes” for Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON), made the declaration during an endorsement rally in Ogoja Local Government Area, where it expressed support for the re-election of Tinubu and Otu.
The group’s Director-General, Dr Michael Abuo, called on members to return to their various polling units and wards and mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said the group was prepared to work across communities to ensure strong electoral support for the two leaders in 2027.
However, the group also used the occasion to draw attention to some of the challenges facing communities in the state.
Abuo called for faster completion of road projects, particularly the Ukelle and Boki roads, while also appealing for improved electricity supply in Bekwarra.
He further called for more employment opportunities for youths and the establishment of a College of Medical Sciences in Yala, among other development needs.
The group also said it had submitted 115 names for a state intervention programme and expressed optimism that beneficiaries would receive support.
Governor Otu, represented by his Deputy, Peter Odey, urged Cross Riverians to continue supporting President Tinubu, citing the Federal Government’s support for the state’s oil-producing status and the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport project.
With political activities already gathering momentum ahead of 2027, the group’s promise to deliver “bloc votes” adds to the growing debate over the strength of political support for Tinubu and Otu in Cross River State.
Ultimately, however, the actual votes will be decided by individual voters at the polling units when the elections take place.
