The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Prof. Sandy O. Reacting to the death, Senator Onor, through his Media Assistant, Ndifon Joseph, described the deceased as a seasoned technocrat and industrialist whose contributions to the nation's economic development and democratic evolution would continue to be remembered.

“His death is indeed a great loss to his family, the good people of Adamawa State, and Nigeria. Alhaji Bamanga Mahmud Tukur was a seasoned technocrat, accomplished industrialist, experienced administrator, political leader, and elder statesman whose contributions to our country will not be forgotten.”

He lamented that the demise would create a vacuum, particularly at a time when the nation continues to require the counsel, institutional memory, and wisdom of experienced statesmen.

“Regrettably, his demise has created a vacuum at a time when our nation continues to require the counsel, institutional memory, and wisdom of experienced statesmen who have witnessed and contributed immensely to our political and economic development over several decades.”

The presidential flagbearer further extended his deepest condolences to the immediate family of the late elder statesman, the government and people of Adamawa State, the Peoples Democratic Party, and Nigerians. He also prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the deceased eternal rest and give those who mourn him the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

A seasoned technocrat and industrialist, the late Tukur served as Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and later served as President of the African Business Roundtable.

His political career also saw him serve as the civilian Governor of Adamawa State, while his leadership experience within the Peoples Democratic Party culminated in his emergence as the National Chairman of the party in 2012.
