The Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, has denied claims linking him to recent government appointments in the state, insisting that the power to appoint officials belongs exclusively to Governor Bassey Otu.
Ironbar, through a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Patrick Asuquo, said recent appointments should be credited to the governor, who he described as the only authority empowered to make decisions on government positions.
According to the statement, Ironbar clarified that he does not possess constitutional powers to appoint individuals into government offices and urged appointees and supporters to direct their appreciation to Governor Otu, whose confidence and leadership, he said, made the appointments possible.
The Chief of Staff also dismissed suggestions that he influenced the appointments, describing such claims as inaccurate and a distortion of the state government’s administrative structure.
He further stated that he had no personal role that warranted public recognition from beneficiaries of the appointments, adding that his responsibility remains supporting the governor and ensuring effective service delivery.
Ironbar reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Otu and pledged to continue carrying out his duties with professionalism and humility.
